This is a growing list of resources that have helped me in my journey thus far. They are categorized alphabetically – from A to VMCAS.

Veterinary Info

VMCAS

  • Facebook Groups – There are quite a few Facebook groups geared toward vet school applicants, including specific demographics such as non-traditional students and those with lower GPAs. The APVMA group is a good place to start, and I would recommend joining several groups for ongoing support.
  • Student Doctor Network: Pre-Veterinary Forums
  • Vetted (podcast) – I’m sad that this podcast seems to have gone off the air, but the first few episodes focus on the hosts’ VMCAS process step by step. I found it extremely helpful, and even re-listened to a couple of episodes once I got to that specific point in my application.
  • VMCAS Applicant Help Center

I’m Lisa

I am a Los Angeles native and non-traditional vet school candidate, applying for the first time at age 38. I have worked with animals for over sixteen years, and logged thousands of experience hours. I will graduate in spring 2025 with my degree in behavioral science, and still have a lot I want to accomplish this year.
